What time do we have to be there for Friday? What time does the camp end on Sunday?

Almost everyone can attend the conference…the only requirement is that you are an incoming first year at McMaster University. It does not matter if you were student council president, or captain of the chess club, or simply focussed on your studies throughout highschool. All you have to be, is an incoming first year student at Mac! Hopefully that is you and we can see you in August!

On Friday registration will start around 4 and end around 5, and then all of the fun will begin! On Sunday the day will end at approximately 4. The times will be confirmed to you once you have sent in your registration form! Remember only 39 days away! I can’t wait to meet you Mary!

Is the entire weekend scheduled with events, or is part of it just free time?
Hello Shauna! The weekend is packed with tons of fun super-cool events right from when you arrive on Friday until you leave on Sunday BUT we do have ample time to socialize during meals, planned group activities and our Saturday night social (incase you didn’t see it on the brochure it includes a Pub Night at our campus bar and a boat cruise of the Hamilton Harbour!!!). We know you’ll have a blast learning a lot about what McMaster University has to offer, you will strengthen your leadership skills and of course you will meet tons of really fun people in the process. Actually I met my best friend at Horizons and we’ve been inseparable for three years since then!
Can’t wait to see you at the conference!
How many people were sent this invitation? Is there a chance that when I sent my money in, there won’t be any spots left?
Hey Christa! Thank you for your interest in the conference. There is a cap on this conference, yes. Of course we couldn’t house all incoming first year students at one conference BUT if you send in all the required forms (refer to registration information) and your payment before the deadline (July 26th), you will have a spot at the conference! Once we have received your payment and forms we will send you a confirmation email as well! Don’t worry we won’t keep you hanging! Can’t wait to see you then!

Hi!I was gone for a week working and so I didnt find out about the camp until yesterday, and I sent my regestration form in right away. I hope that there is still room because it sounds SO amazing- totally can’t wait! Anyways, I will be coming for the weekend (hopefully- if there’s still room) from Ottawa, and I was wondering how you organizers would recommend that I travel- bus or train? What time do I have to be at Mac for and what time is the weekend over and stuff like that. I would really appreciate this information that way I can book my tickets and make my arrangements for time off work. Thank you so much, and I am totally pumped for a fantastic time!!!

There are spaces still available, and as long as you send in your forms by July 26th, you will be guaranteed a spot in the conference.

I’m coming from Ottawa for the weekend as well and I’m not sure how I’ll be traveling yet either! I was thinking that I would probably take the bus, because I know there aren’t any trains that go directly from Ottawa to Hamilton, so if you find any good bus scheduling times…let me know! Thanks:)
Hi , I’m really looking forward to this conference. However I was wondering is there anything specific that we need to bring other than our positive attitudes, energy and spirit. The reason I ask is because at other conferneces that I have attended we were provided with our manuals, pens, and other things.

The conference registration start time is at 4:00 pm on Friday August 18th so the travel arrangements that you make can be made for then, as well Sunday (20th) the check-out time is 5:00 pm. I would say that the best way to get to us would be to take a VIA train all the way from Ottawa to Burlington(the station is called Aldershot) in which you might have to change trains in Toronto but they’ll let you know once you purchase the ticket. Then from there you can take a GO bus from that station to the Hamilton one! Can’t wait to meet you!

Hey its July 22, and i just finished mailing the form. If you dont recieve the form by the 26th is it still $170 dollars or do I have to pay extra? and am I still guaranteed a spot? Believe it or not this is going to be my first ever conference and I really hope i can go coz it sounds like a lot of fun!

I`m coming to Mac from Ottawa, too.
However since I`m going to Welcome Day, I`ll be arriving on Aug. 10 and live in Hamilton for a week.
If any of you want to come to Welcome Day, which I strongly sugguest that you do, you can probably get a ride from this person whom I`m going with.
As for going back to Ottawa, I`m thinking either take Greyhound or contact my landlord to see if there`s any special rate for a group of 3. He owns a travel agency, you see. Book through him might be cheaper.

Thanks for the interest. If you’d like, you can fill out the information below and e-mail it back to us. At that point you can download the step2 forms from the website and mail those with your cheque for $170 and a note saying “registered via e-mail.”

Just to let you know, as of July 30th, there are still spaces and if you send in your forms in the next couple days (barring any sudden inundation) you will get a spot at the conference. If you aren’t sure about space, but want to come, send in your forms. We will post a message when registration closes and the conference is full.

Hiya! I was late hearing about this and your payment options mentions a Visa or Master Card. Is it possible for me to mail my forms and make the payment over the phone? I am really interested in going so if I cannot make the payment over the phone, will it be accepted if it arrives after Aug 1st?

Yes that is quite possible just simply call our MSU front desk at 905-525-9140 ext. 22003 and they will process it all for you. You do however still need to mail your forms in though!

I have sent in my registration info and cheque since over a week ago and I have not received a confirmation email yet. I was wondering if my registration was processed already and how much longer I would have to wait to know when my spot is confirmed. Does a late fee still apply?

Note that at this point we have decided to accomodate anyone who applies. This means that there is no cap and that if you get us your information before the 16th, you will have a space.

We have contacted you both personally via email but as it says on the pamphlet when you paid for the conference, there are no refunds and therefore we will be unable to refund your money. Just wanted to say that i’m really looking forward to this weekend. Unfortunately however on both Saturday and Sunday i have events at MAC going on at 2:30pm on both days for about 2 hours. I was just curious as to how i may still be able to take part in the sessions this weekend and still attend my other events.

heyy the last weekend was the BEST weekend ive ever had, and coming from a school like mine, i’ve never seen so many spirited people together in one space.. thanks a lot for giving me the confidence to be outgoing and removing all my university fears!
